World Champions Collection: Argentina
We’ve been taking a closer look at each of our World Champions Collection countries over the past couple of days, and today we’re focusing on the last of our South American teams: Argentina. First of all, here’s a peek behind the scenes of our photo shoot with our Argentinean model, Luli Fernandez:
Our Argentina crest was quite unusual in that it wasn’t an artist or designer that created their new national crest, but a record label. Umbro enlisted ZZK Records and Freshcore to design the Argentina emblem, and the Buenos Aires-based group did a great job. They’ve also gone above and beyond the call of duty by providing you readers with an extra special treat – a free download of their latest musical mix, so you can get a flavour of Argentina as you read all about their designs. If you click here, you can download a fantastic mix of electro, reggaetron, dubstep and a whole lot more from ZZK’s El Remolón, offering a fantastic insight into the sound of Beunos Aires.
We also spoke to Grant from ZZK about their contribution to the World Champions Collection, here’s what he had to say…

How would you describe your work?
‘Open and eager.’
Who or what inspired you to become an artist?
‘The city of Buenos Aires.’

What made you want to get involved in this collaboration with Umbro?
‘It sounded like a fun project.’
What do you think of the existing crest used by your national team?
‘It’s aight.’
How did you approach the idea of redesigning the Argentinean crest?
‘With a sense of humour and an idea of what we’d want the boys to wear if they were dancing at a ZZK party.’
How did you decide what elements to include?
‘Argentine lore and fun.’
The results look fun, was it an enjoyable experience?
‘It was very enjoyable, we particularly liked the idea to make it as fun and crazy as we wanted.’
If you had to name your crest, what would you call it?
‘Freshcorismo.’
Were you a football fan before you decided to do this?
‘Yes. I love the sport.’
What role do you think your crest will have for players and fans?
‘It will give them a new way of looking at the sport, a new perspective.’
How do you think Argentina will fare in this summer’s World Cup?
‘We hope they do well, we’re hoping for the win!’
Thanks again to ZZK for their designs and for the music. Next week, we’ll be taking a closer look at our four European winners, starting with current world champions Italy…
