I’ve been extremely interested in Umbro’s designs for a while now and impressed by their take on past designs – such as mod design – as well as by their quality. … I am a fan of the tailoring and appreciate the squad’s new look; this includes their attire both on and off the field. To see players in an elegant, fitted, subtle style I believe raises the profile of England by suggesting professionalism, responsibility, and decorum.” via blog comment

I can only see one truly negative comment there, yet browsing forums etc. there are a lot of haters.
Can’t say I’m a huge fan of it. For the hype that the shirt was given to it I was expecting more. Retro is never the way forward, literally.

Whats with the England badge on this rugby looking shirt?
And by the look of the way things are going it wont be too long before the umbro logo is actually bigger than the badge.
awful shirt!

Not sure about the collars – looks like they should be on centre court at Wimbledon rather than Wembley.

Umbro have just shown that they will be the next british industry to go bust after england failing to get to euro 2008 they must have lost a fortune and now this half arsed attemt at a football shirt, easy to copy and dull, easier to buy the kids a £7.99 polo with the three lions on fron JJB luckily the world cup will be played while we all sleep so we wont have to look at this awful shirt.

My only criticism could be that the lettering for the players names seems a bit small.
It’s clean, simple and classic, some comments say retro, but it makes the red away kit look completely outdated to me!

Thanks for your comments. The England kit is always a talking point and with anything out of the norm there is going to be the positive and negative. We always appreciate your thoughts so keep them coming (being mindful of our terms of use of course!).

Excellent work on the Kit. Very subtle and classy. The Numbers on the back are also spot on.
I wish Nike would do as good a job with the United Kits, but watch them go overboard again with patterned textiles and naf details.

not keen at all, there’s really not much too it and the elements that remain are way too blunt, the collar and badge looking way out of proportion. 2/10.

Classic, absolutely classic. A real re-invention of what a football kit could and should be. Umbro have upped the ante with this strip and completely revitalised football kit design.
