If you’re going to the England v Slovakia game on 28th March and received your ticket through the post, then you should have seen an invitation to the reveal of the new England kit and also a call to wear white for the game (see below).

We want to make the occasion truly spectacular and how better to celebrate the unveiling of the new kit than having over 80,000 fans wearing white. England fans always show their support at games by wearing shirts but we want this to be more than that, we want a sea of white, something that will once again highlight the fantastic England support. Wear anything you want (even dubious looking shell suits are ok on this occasion) as long as it’s white, and we’d love to hear about what you plan to wear and even see some pics of how you looked.

Enjoy!

    Dear Paul,

My name is John Devlin and I am the author/illustrator of 2 books on football shirt history entitled TRUE COLOURS volumes 1 and 2. They trace the kit history of some of England’s biggest clubs since 1980 along with that of the English, Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish and Irish FAs. Umbro were hugely supportive of the books and Mike Taylor at Umbro granted me permission to include the company’s IP in them – he also complimented me on them after publication saying that they have helped re-affirm Umbro’s position and heritage in the football kit world.

Its great to see the company doing so much to celebrate their past and I just wanted to offer my services in any way I can to help with any ongoing historical kit projects.

I would also like to produce an article on the kit archiving work you are doing on my site and perhaps include some of your photos from Flickr and would therefore like to request your permission to do this please.

If I can be of any help then please get in touch.

    Thanks for your time.

    Best regards,
    John Devlin

    Hi John,

Thanks very much for your comment. I have both your books on my desk and they have been really helpful in identifying some of the shirts. All of our images have a non-commercial license so please feel free to use them on your site.

We have had another hunderd shirts photographed and are uploading them to our flickr page over night. I will put a post up tomorrow but would be great to get your help identifying the non-familiar ones!

    Cheers,
    Tom
