Manchester City 3rd Kit Crest

Earlier in the week there was a special launch with fans for the brand new MCFC kit. The fans were given the very first look at the new strips and opinion on it appeared to be very positive. Some of the City dedicated forums and blogs have since been busy discussing the merits of the shirts, and there seems to be great deal of praise from all of those commenting. In particular, Blue Moon and Bitter and Blue have featured the kit launch in a little depth. Particularly, the quality and design were highlighted and the nod to the retro feel was well received.

The home kit will be on general sale from July.

The away kit will be available from August.

The third kit will be available from October.

These are very good looking, traditional kits (although I’m sure City fans would have prefered a red and black striped kit to a solid black one – one for next season, I expect) in a style that any football fan would like to see their own team in.

I’d love it if Nike handed United’s kit contract over to Umbro now they own the brand. It could be seen as Nike’s presitge, bespoke label.

My question is why did City get this special thought and effort while other big clubs like West Ham and Blackburn get a standard template kit with the old Umbro branding?

Thanks for the comment Tim. This is the first shirt to be developed since our new tailoring concept following the new England home kit. The shirts for West Ham and Blackburn were designed last year (kits are usually developed at least a year ahead), the City partnership only happened recently.
