Kasabian Unveil the Englnd Away Kit 2010 at the Paris Olympia

That’s right, the shirt that you can see above is the new Umbro England Away shirt, part of the kit that the team will wear at the World Cup in South Africa this summer. But what’s also clear is that it’s been revealed in a way you might not expect. Last night, at the Paris Olympia, Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan unveiled the shirt to an unsuspecting audience of French rock fans during his band’s encore. Sounds unbelievable doesn’t it? Here’s a video of the event as it happened, in case you don’t believe us!

This is the first time that a shirt has been unveiled in this way, and if you ask us, it’s a pretty cool way of doing things.

So what did Kasabian think about getting involved with Umbro and unveiling the new Away shirt in this way? Keep your eyes here on the Umbro blog, as we’ll have an interview with Tom about the whole experience up here very soon. We’ll also be telling you exactly why we decided to unveil the kit in this way – with an English band, abroad – later today. In the meantime, you can check out pictures of the new England Away kit over on our Flickr site, become a fan of the new shirt over on Facebook, or let us know what you think of it right here on the blog.

Looks great, really really smart. You get the “spirit of 66″ with the simple look but it looks like a modern football shirt. I specially like the two-tone style of the sleeves, and how it changed with the long sleeve…

I haven’t been a fan of the “tailored” kits before, and the Home kit is not my favorite, but now this kit combined a simple, smart look with excellent design!

Why would someone go on a football kit manufacturer’s website and take the time to say “Who cares?” about the kit. If you want to “concentrate on the football” then go to a football website.

Amazing, another classic shirt! We sort of already knew the way it was going after the home shirt was designed but let’s keep it this way. Kits should remain minimal in design from now on, never go back to abstract kite patterns like we’ve seen since the late 70s until recently. Please.

This is a superb effort. Hats off to the designers and team at Umbro. I’m loving the retro styling. It’s sophisticated and sharp. I’m in for a long sleeve.

    Cheers

I’m sticking with my 2006 away shirt, best one for years. This one is better than the 2008 away shirt which was horrific.

Little disappointed with this, the white cuffs are odd. Shame, this is not far off being a good shirts but looks a bit sloppy. Why is the star not gold? The neck looks odd too. Come on Umbro… give us a good Sunderland shirt in the summer!!
