England Away: The Anthem Jacket

The picture you can see above features some of the England Away images that you’ll already be familiar with, but there’s one major difference – check out the jacket being sported by Messrs Beckham and Terry. It’s the new Umbro Anthem Jacket, designed to accompany the new England Away kit. The jacket, which was also designed by creative consultant Aitor Throup, follows the same design principles of the Away kit – the unique ergonomic shape, and the interlinked series of panels that relate to specific parts of the body. The Anthem Jacket also has some smart touches of its own as well – take a look at the subtle lettering on the back, for instance. All together, it’s a stylish addition to the England Away range, and one that the players will look great in when they take to the field for next week’s friendly against Egypt at Wembley. To take a closer look, check out the Flickr gallery we’ve put together here.

I’d definately buy one so long as it’s reasonably priced – not like the £100 (!!!) white anthem jacket.

Fantastic designs, both England’s home and away strips and the Anthem jackets will be by far the best international kits on display at the world cup. What a shame the England team couldn’t also be the first team to have their strip fair trade produced. It would have been a great gesture from the country that invented the game and a great advert for Umbro.

Shame on Umbro for not making the England strip fair trade.

Couldn’t agree more with the last two messages, it’s about time Umbro went fair trade. The designs are great, but the way their garments are manufactured is disgusting. I’m sure the England team would support such a move.

Great tracksuit top!! Again, would have one but would never pay £100. Come on Umbro, sort out the pricing!! I was pick-pocketed a couple of months ago and swore it’d never happen again!!!!

I would pay £100 for a proper brand,
but you’re umbro, the brand that the kids who can’t afford adidas and nike wear.
and an overpriced tracksuit top isn’t going to change that.

The Anthem jacket is incredibly smart, just like the whole of the Tailored by Umbro range.
Rich – Umbro is a proper brand, its a small brand but has big ideas. Umbro produce some of the best kits and training wear now that they have gone to the “Tailored by” range. The price I would imagine is so high, to truly show that it is something special. Only 11 of the tops are worn in a game… not even the Subs wear it. I would pay 100 quid for it (or 55 for the even nicer blue version) and be proud and loving of it for a long time to come.

The reason Umbro don’t go fair trade, is that the cost of the England kit sponsorship deal is so high, they can only make money if they get the gear produced by kids in Bangladesh !

£85-£100 is a complete joke!! I was thinking it would be maybe £65 max when I saw it. You could buy a proper nice coat for that, this is just a basic training jacket. Bring down the price and more people will buy it and I am sure Umbro will make more money.
