We had another snow-affected football programme last week, which means a lot of us can’t wait for this weekend’s bout of matches to kick off. For anyone who’s had a few matches called off over the past few weeks, it’s obviously frustrating, but surely not as bad as the game back in the 1970s that was postponed 29 times? The full story of this mammoth postponement is told over on The Guardian’s The Knowledge, which answers obscure football trivia sent in by readers. A question answered today, concerning how big the local population is compared to the size of their local ground, is also an interesting read.

Of course, the lower leagues will be hit by adverse weather conditions more than most, with their facilities harder hit by the snow, ice and rain. Moving the football season to summer might seem ridiculous at first, but over at When Saturday Comes, they’ve come up with some reasonable reasons for doing so. The fact that us fans starved of action during summer months would have something to keep us going means it’s automatically not as silly as you might think!

There’s been a glut of end of year polls recently, putting together lists of the best players, goals, teams, etc. However, the folks over at female-friendly football site Kickette are asking readers to offer their opinions on some very different football issues. Want to vote for your favourite bitchface pulled by a footballer? Or best looking rookie? Best head over here then, and have your say. Be warned though, the site features a mammoth amount of footballers in various states of undress!

Back looking at the action on the pitch, and discussion of England’s World Cup squad is never far away, particularly when it comes to the man between the posts. Joe Hart has been getting a lot of attention recently, and this blog over at TwoFootedTackle suggests that the stats back up the claims for Birmingham’s on-loan keeper to be on the plane to South Africa. According to them, Hart is ranked as the third best keeper in Europe, so lets hope he keeps up his great form in the second half of the season.

Of course, a lot of the attention this week has been around Liverpool, thanks to their FA Cup exit to Reading, and some ill-thought out comments from their former Vice-Chairman. Of course, the club don’t help themselves by trying to sell tickets to a game before they’d qualified for the match in question (thanks to Off The Post), but looking at the Reds situation seriously, EPL Talk offers a reasoned examination of the club’s situation this week, and where they can go in the future. At least Senor Torres is keeping busy by starring in some pretty psychedelic videos.

Finally, a quick note about that picture at the top of the page – yes, it’s an Umbro shirt, the new Benidorm home shirt in fact. Spotted by Unprofessional Foul earlier this week. Make sure you pick one up if you’re holidaying there this summer.
