England’s Umbro Lions: the boots on their feet

With Wales and England both Tailored by Umbro, today’s big game at the Millennium Stadium will already have plenty of double diamonds on display. However, with 9 members of Fabio Capello’s England squad wearing Umbro boots, there’ll also be a big influence from us on their feet! But what boots exactly will each player be wearing? Here’s the lowdown on what all of Umbro’s England players will be going with for today’s vital Euro2012 qualifier…

Strikers

Darren Bent wears Umbro Diamond Icons

Up front, we’ve got Andy Carroll and Darren Bent representing Umbro and England. Carroll will be sporting the classic Speciali Pro in black, white and silver, while Aston Villa’s new striker Bent will be sporting the new Speciali R in white and red.

Defenders

With six defenders in Fabio Capello’s squad, including captain John Terry, it’s fair to say that our boots will be seeing plenty of action this afternoon! JT will be wearing the same Speciali Pros as Andy Carroll, but in white and gold, while Michael Dawson will be wearing the same Speciali R as Darren Bent. Elsewhere, the rest of our representatives in England’s defence – Phil Jagielka, Kyle Walker, Gary Cahill and Leighton Baines – have taken a fancy to our new STII boots, which offer a nice balance of comfort, protection and speed.

Between the sticks

Number one for Man City, Umbro and England, Joe Hart will be stepping out in the Speciali Rs as well tomorrow as well. A fresh take on the classic Speciali, the Speciali R updates the timeless boot with some modern, revolutionary updates – take a look at Umbro.com for more details.

Keep your eyes peeled for all these Umbro boots on the pitch today – and lets hope for a great game from both sides!

Wales 2010: Tailored by Umbro

Umbro Wales Shirt 2010

After a gap of almost 20 years, Umbro are very excited to announce a new collaboration with one of the home nations. For two years as the team look to qualify for the 2012 UEFA European Championships, Wales will be Tailored by Umbro.

The Welsh squad will wear the new Umbro kit for the first time tonight in their friendly match against Luxemburg in Llanelli, and we’re confident that fans will be pleased with the results.

In the traditional Welsh red, the shirt features the iconic Welsh crest embroidered on the chest. The Umbro logo, in a bright yellow, is drawn from the colours featured within that national badge of honour.

Crafted from light and breathable fabric, the shirt also features a soft v-neck providing comfort, raglan sleeves made from one piece of fabric aiding articulation and a breathable mesh fabric under the arms. On the hem of the shirt, an embroidered badge unique to each team features the iconic Welsh flag complete with red dragon.

This attention to detail continues throughout the rest of the kit, with the white shorts ergonomically shaped to provide comfort throughout the whole 90 minutes. Completing the kit, the socks feature eye-catching red and white hoops, helping players to pick out a pass to their team mates on the pitch.

It all adds up to a kit that we’re sure Welsh fans and players will be proud of, and one that revives a collaboration that’s produced some classic kits in the past. Check out this match-worn Wales shirt from 1974, which we found in our archives – we think our new creation will stand the test of time just as well!
