Umbro Football Boots: Tailored By England

Different people need different football boots, depending on the style of football they play, something we’ve decided to celebrate in these great images. All three of Umbro’s boots have their own particular attributes, but they’re united by one ethos: Tailored by England. Wherever you wear them in the world, you can be sure that Umbro’s boots will offer you craft, football insight and tailoring expertise.

Each of our boots is designed with different types of players in mind, so the main question to ask is: which one are you?

Umbro Geometra - Keep Calm And Pass It On

For the visionary, commanding player, the Geometra offers fantastic comfort and special attributes that aid control and passing. We’ve given a cheeky twist to an iconic phrase to capture the Geometra’s talents with ‘Keep Calm And Pass It On’.

Umbro Speciali - an icon of quality

The Speciali is perhaps our best known boot, and it’s clear why. Guaranteed craft and quality comes in every pair, which is why iconic players such as Alan Shearer and Michael Owen have always relied on the Speciali. Crafted from the highest quality leather, the Speciali has been given it’s own version of the royal warrant, a stamp of quality assurance that all football fans will understand!

Umbro GT - Who Dares Wins

The bright and brash member of the Umbro football boot family, the GT is for the daring player who likes to stand out on the pitch. Available in some eye-catching colourways, the Umbro GT is our lightest ever boot, crafted from a special micro-fibre for speed without compromising on quality. This colourful take on the phrase ‘Who Dares Wins’, created by designer Ben Eine, captures the Umbro GT’s talents perfectly.

Darren Bent gears up for the new season with the new Umbro GT

With just over a week to go until the Premier League kicks off again, we thought we’d sit down with one of our favourite players to look ahead to 2010/2011. We met up with Sunderland and England star Darren Bent recently to get some quickfire insights into what this speedy striker is like away from the game. Is his life as high-speed, action-packed and colourful as the new Umbro GT boots he’ll be wearing this season? Here’s what Darren had to say…

What was your first impression of the Umbro GT boots?

‘I thought they had a really funky design, and were in line with the kind of fashion trends you see today.’

And what about when your first tried them out?

‘Straight away they appeared to be the right boot for me, comfortable and light-weight.’

What aspect of the boots do you think will help you out on the pitch?

‘The lightness of the boots should really help my speed.’

Away from the pitch, what one item could you not do without in life?

‘My iPod and my tunes, definitely. I’m loving Drake’s new album at the moment.’

What is your favourite way for keeping in touch with friends?

‘Texting.’

What is your favourite computer game at the moment?

‘It’s still Call of Duty or FIFA.’

Do you prefer to play online with other people, or single player?

‘Online definitely. I play with my mates and the other Sunderland boys.’

What would be your favourite game of all time?

‘It’s got to be Streets of Rage on the Sega Mega Drive.’

In terms of football, what are your aims for the season, both personally and for Sunderland?

For me, it’s to play as well as last season if not better. For Sunderland, it’s to finish in the top half of the league.’

What’s the mood at the club like in pre-season?

‘It’s been really positive, everyone has been working hard and we ‘re all looking forward to the season ahead.’

Are there any matches you’re looking forward to in particular – old teams or derby games?

‘The derby match against Newcastle will be a highlight for this season, and I’m also looking forward to both games against Spurs, home and away.

And finally, are you thinking about getting back in the England team at the moment, or are you simply concentrating on Sunderland?

‘Sunderland and the season ahead is my priority at the moment.’

Umbro GT: Go Faster

Umbro GT: Go Faster

As we start to look forward to the new football season, we’re very excited to unveil our new boot, the lightest we’ve ever made: the Umbro GT.

In football speed is your super-power. It’s what gets you to the ball, the chance, the goal, the glory first. Umbro GT is our lightest, fastest, boot yet. It’s a boot precision engineered to give you that power. It’s a boot for a player who doesn’t just play fast, but lives that way too.

In creating the Umbro GT, we were looking for a solution that brought the idea of speed to life in a way that would make living and playing in the fast lane seem like the only way to go. And here it is – a concept that smashes art, lifestyle and speed together to create super-charged-pop-powered-art.
We reckon it leaves our competition floundering in our slipstream, what about you?
Great, we’re glad you’re up to speed – now here’s more info on what makes the Umbro GT so special…

Umbro GT: Go Faster

Built for speed and style, Umbro GT is a significant step forward in the boot world for us. After the classic Speciali and the sleek Stealth, Umbro GT is a step into the world of speed. Crafted from a single piece of Japanese Teijin micro-fibre, the upper on the Umbro GT is designed to reduce weight, increase strength and provide a streamlined shape for the wearer.

Umbro GT: Go Faster

It’s also a stylish thing to put on your feet. Available in two striking colourways – a sharp black and lime green or a cool white and orange – Umbro GT will certainly get you noticed on the pitch. It’s the perfect boot for a speedy, stylish player such as Sunderland and England striker Darren Bent, who will be one of the first players to debut the Umbro GT in the 2010/2011 season.

After he’d tested out the Umbro GT for us, Darren said: “I can’t wait to wear the new Umbro GT. Not only is the boot incredibly lightweight, which will help my speed on the pitch, it also looks good. I like to play my football with a degree of style and it is great to have footwear that reflects this.”

Umbro GT will be on sale from August 1st. For details on where to buy it, or to check out some downloadable wallpapers head over to the Umbro website now.
