The New Sunderland Home Shirt: Tailored by Umbro

Ahead of today’s big game against Liverpool, Sunderland have given their fans an early glimpse of their new home shirt for next season. The kit, pictured above, will be worn by the Black Cats throughout the 2011/12 season, and is available to buy from May 12th from the club’s offical store.

Continuing the Tailored by Umbro aesthetic of this season’s strip, the new shirt features bold red and white stripes completed by black cuffs and a simple black v-neck collar. Crafted from a light, breathable material, the shirt is completed by diagonal chevrons on the shoulder and the club’s crest embroidered on the front.

With the club pushing for a European place as the current season races towards a climax, Sunderland fans will be hoping to see their team wearing the new shirt against some exotic opposition in 2011/12!

Sunderland Home 2010/11: Tailored by Umbro

As they look forward to another season of success in the Premier League, Sunderland are very excited to reveal their new home kit, Tailored by Umbro for the 2010/11 season.

Like the recently revealed away kit, Sunderland’s new home strip has been crafted using the smart, stylish look that has inspired all of Umbro’s current designs for its top clubs.

In Sunderland’s traditional red and white stripes, the home shirt is constructed from 100% polyester, making it lightweight and breathable for players on the pitch. A mesh-vent seam under the arm aids this ventilation.

There’s a modern touch to the Black Cats’ classic stripes, with a ‘zig zag’ warp knit design, while the shirt features a turn down collar for increased comfort. The level of craft involved in the new Sunderland shirt can be seen in the club crest, which is embroidered directly onto the garment rather than via a transfer.

So what do you Sunderland fans think? We’d love to hear what you have to say about both your home and away shirts for 2010/11. For more pictures and to pre-order the shirt, head over to the Sunderland site.

The latest club to get their kits Tailored by Umbro, Sunderland revealed their new away kit for the 2010/11 season today. Featuring a clean, sharp design and bold, confident colours, the kit is sure to be a popular choice for Mackems on the road next season. The shirt is stone with a burgundy trim and a crew neck, and is built in the unique ergonomic shape used for the latest England kit. That means that it fits to the natural stance of the person wearing the kit, allowing them to move better on the pitch. The smart look of the shirt is continued through the rest of the kit, with the shorts featuring the reverse colourway, predominently burgundy with a stone white trim.

Altogether, it’s a great kit that should look great on the Sunderland team and their fans as they look to improve on an impressive 2009/10 season. For more pictures, take a look at the Sunderland site, featuring star striker Darren Bent modelling the new kit.
